Stack
Description

Very easy to teach, easy to get set-up quickly, and sometimes results in an easy score.

Play Setup
  • Player 1 is the inbounder.
  • Players 5,4,3, and 2 stack vertically, facing the ball, with player 5 starting the stack at about halfway up on the ball-side lane.

  • Player 1 slaps the ball and yells "Go!" to start the play.
  • All players, except player 2, flash directly across the lane to draw the defense.
  • Player 2's initial step is the same way as the others but then he cuts sharply back towards the ball and turns directly down the lane to receive the pass for a layup or short jump-shot.
  • If player 2 is not open, player 4 should loop back to near half-court for an inbound lob over the defense.
  • The other players need to scramble to get open in case no options are left for the inbounder.
Key Coaching Points
  • The stack must be "airtight". Instruct your players to get close together and not to allow the defense into the stack.
  • It is very important that player 2 fakes away from the ball first to create space for her cut to the basket. If she can use player 3 to screen her defender she should.
